Is There Inter-Terminal Transportation?

• Tirupati has the Garuda Integrated Terminal which handles both domestic and international flights under one roof.
• The old domestic terminal was replaced / integrated over time. The current arrangement means that arrival and departure levels are on different floors (ground for arrivals, first level for departures).
• Because of this design, for most passengers there is no need for an inter-terminal shuttle (as would be needed at airports with completely separate terminals). Walking, lifts, escalators connect the levels.

Is There Inter-Terminal Transportation?

• As per official sources (AAI, airport website), there is no dedicated shuttle or transit service needed or provided between separate terminals at TIR, because the terminal is unified (Garuda). No mention of such service is found under Transport / AAI or airport “Services” pages.
• All main functions (check-in, boarding gates, arrival, immigration etc.) are within the same integrated building. So “inter-terminal transit” is largely a non-issue for normal passengers.

What Passengers Should Know / Tips

• If arriving or departing, after baggage claim or check-in, you may need to move between different levels (arrival vs departure) or between public vs air-side areas. Elevators / lifts / escalators are available. Helpful if you have mobility concerns or heavy luggage.
• Allow extra time if you’re unfamiliar with the layout, particularly when transferring flights or switching between international and domestic processing (if your flight requires immigration).
• For connecting flights, verify if both legs use the Garuda terminal. If not explicitly stated, check with your airline. If there were to be separate buildings or remote gates in future, inter-terminal transport might become relevant then.

Proposal & Future Potential

• As airports expand, sometimes remnant structures or future apron extensions may require remote gates or satellite zones. If that happens, an inter-terminal shuttle or people-mover might be needed. For now, design minimizes that need.
